Does anyone have any suggestions, tips, or advice on the 1 year anniversary death of your loved one? My boyfriend died last year in August. His sister and I want to throw a celebration of life for him. Invite all his close friends and loved ones. Make his favorite foods. Have his favorite drinks. Play his favorite music. Share good memories about him to keep his spirit alive. But his parents strongly disagree. They feel we are celebrating his death. They don't want to be apart of it at all. What should I do? I don't want to disrespect his parents. But everyone grieves differently and this is how his sister and I want to grieve him. And quite honestly, this is what my boyfriend would have wanted. He would want us throwing a party in his honor and everyone talking about him! I'm beyond lost.
