Imagine two eggs - side by side. One egg disappears - for good. The egg that's left is no longer an egg. It's smashed. It can't simply 'carry on with the loss' or recover it's egg-ness. It doesn't know what it is any longer. All it can do is tend to it's pain - speak it - investigate it - find out how to create a new shape from the shards. What it needs is recognition of it's pain. It needs no pressure to return to it's previous shape. It can't. It needs presence of others in the pain - it needs others to have the courage to step in there momentarily, and just be. That's all.
